To support the strategic proposals for their department by providing ideas and information and by effectively implementing the plan.

Responsibilities

Managing the Team:
Takes responsibility for delegating daily tasks to Trainee(s), setting realistic deadlines to ensure the department’s objectives are met and following up to see that the agreed tasks are actioned.
Supports the training of the trainee(s) in their department as required.

Planning the Range:
Knows the targets set for the department and the current performance levels, e.g. sales, best/worst sellers, budgets, markdowns and stock turn.
Contributes to future strategy, range direction and selection meetings by supporting the buyer throughout and by carrying out and presenting an assessment of our competition with recommendations for future action.

Developing the Range:
Contributes constructive ideas to support the development of the range.
Supports the presentation of the range during selection.
Responsible to the buyer for developing and presenting part of the range as agreed by their line manager.

Buying the Range:
Develops and maintains good working relationships with suppliers and effectively negotiates prices, lead times, quality standards, etc., taking into account the critical path and departmental objectives as directed by their Buyer.
Uses their knowledge of required supplier criteria to make recommendations and agree appropriate action with their buyer.
Acts effectively as the first point of contact for daily issues with suppliers.
Uses information from competitor shops, best and worst sellers and supplier visits to input into buying decisions.

Progressing the Range:
Working with technology assists their buyer to manage the fitting of samples, lab dips
