Summary of Role
 
To be responsible for the global category supplier selection, appraisal and management of spend to a value of £11m:
Plastic, paper and promotional bags, including 'Bags for Life'
Plastic and wooden hangers for stores and the global supply base
Kids plastic packaging for the global supply base
A key requirement is the ability to liaise closely with and understand the requirements of stakeholders
 
Responsibilities - supported by the Purchasing Manager:
 
Supplier Sourcing
Identify and recommend to Purchasing Manager (PM) potential future suppliers.
Create ‘network’ to ensure ‘best suppliers’ are sourced and selected.
Tender Preparation
Prepare for discussion with PM an assessment of current supplier/product/service performance, price, and outstanding issues.
Prepare tender documents for review by the PM.
Utilise eSourcing and eAuction tools as appropriate.
 
Supplier Appraisal – Scorecards
Prepare and undertake supplier appraisals with the support of the PM and present findings.
Obtain initial ‘ball park prices’ as part of the commercial appraisal.
Prepare a Tender scorecard and apply to each chosen supplier. Summarise results and present to PM.
Contracts/Service Level Agreements (SLAs)/KPIs
Prepare formal contracts and SLAs based upon the tender document in accordance to identified best practice by PM.
Liaise with legal department & PM prior to presentation to ensure legality & ‘correctness’.
Present Contract/SLA/ to PM for finalisation.
Establish detailed KPI’s and associated penalties for non-comp

Summary of role
 
Contribute to maximising the effectiveness of NEXT by providing expert advice and guidance and supporting the development of managers, training of sales staff and the implementation and maintenance of all retail training initiatives. This position is based within the South Region.
 
Responsibilities
 
Planning and research projects
To gather qualitative and quantative data to analyse and determine training needs. Maintain an up to date business awareness ensuring involvement in working parties, liaison with Head Office Departments, focus groups, store visits and meetings. To be responsible for investigating options available and making decisions on the most appropriate training solution, through planning, prioritising and scheduling training events.
Design training materials
Recognise the range of methods available and determine the most appropriate solution. Create and construct appropriate solutions for specified business needs within agreed timescales and budgetary constraints e.g. self development workbooks, training files, exercises, activities for all training subjects.
Pilot programmes
Recommend and select relevant audience and implement the training plans. Test, adapt and evaluate performance in the store locations and with involved parties and recommend appropriate solutions. To undertake training where appropriate for Head Office Departments.
Management Development
Present and facilitate course material using appropriate training methods and appealing to individuals learning preferences. To provide advice to support the achievement of individual learning objectives. To facilitate the delivery of learning opportunities and monitor and assess the effectiveness of contributions.
